MADE FOR THE JOB AT HAND
Remove the sound, keep the picture.
MuteVid removes audio tracks from a local video file. This is different from turning down a player: the saved video contains no audio track. Use it for a product clip with background conversation, a screen recording with private audio, or footage that needs a new voiceover. You do not need an account, and the video is never sent to our server.
Three steps. Then it’s yours.
- 01
Choose your video
Open a local MP4, MOV or WebM. We inspect the actual tracks, not just the extension.
- 02
Remove the audio
Preview the video muted, then remove its audio tracks. The video stream is copied without re-encoding.
- 03
Save the quiet version
Check the result and download a new file. On supported phones, use Share to save it to Files or another app.
A silent file, not just a muted player
Turning off the speaker in a video player changes what you hear. It does not remove the audio stored in the file. MuteVid creates a new video without audio tracks, so the unwanted sound does not return when someone opens it elsewhere.
Does removing audio change video quality?
The tool copies the encoded video stream instead of compressing it again. It does not resize the picture or intentionally change its frame rate. Container metadata can change during remuxing; check orientation and playback before sharing important footage. Unsupported codec/container combinations produce a clear error rather than a silent conversion.
Useful before you publish
Remove background conversation from a product demonstration, silence a screen recording, or prepare B-roll before adding music in your editor. Removing sound does not remove private information visible in the picture.
Built for phone files, with honest limits
Choose a video from your system file picker. Keep this tab open while processing: mobile browsers may pause work in the background. MP4 and MOV exports stay in their respective containers; WebM stays WebM. A browser may be able to process a video it cannot preview, especially HEVC footage.
Good questions. Straight answers.
How can I remove audio from a video without uploading it?
Choose your video in MuteVid and select Remove audio. Processing runs in your browser using a downloaded engine. Your video stays on your device; only the website and engine are fetched from our servers.
Can I mute a video on my iPhone or Android phone?
Yes, on a compatible current browser with enough available memory. Choose a video, remove the sound, then use Download or the available Share button. On iPhone, check the Files app or your browser’s downloads. Keep the tab open during processing.
Is this free, and will there be a watermark?
The tool is free to use without an account. It does not add a watermark or change the picture to include branding.
What happens if my video has no audio?
We tell you that the file is already silent. There is no need to generate another copy just to remove a track that is not present.
Does this remove music but keep speech?
No. This tool removes all audio tracks, including voices, music and background noise. It does not separate speakers or remove only the music.
What if the file is too large or processing fails?
The first release accepts files up to 100 MB. Close other busy tabs or try a smaller file on a computer. Cancel and choose the file again to retry. The original file is not modified.
